The Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved a new accountability system for Louisiana schools and districts earlier this year.
This new system is a way for the state to grade schools and districts. Some of those changes include increasing the value of work-based learning experiences within the formula, which includes career and technical training as well as internships and apprenticeships.
President of BESE Ronnie Morris says the goal is to bridge the gap between business and education by developing internship and apprenticeship programs.
To get feedback from students, parents and local business owners, BESE is holding a “Bridging Success” statewide tour starting in Baton Rouge at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. A full schedule of events will be posted by BESE.
